Hearing Aid Consultations

If your audiologic hearing evaluation points to a need for hearing aids, we will take the time to discuss multiple options to determine what will best meet your needs. Our recommendations are based on your lifestyle and your comfort level with certain technologies or accessories.

Depending on when and where you experience hearing difficulties, we will review better communication strategies that can help to improve your relationships with those around you.

With a proper hearing aid fitting, many patients learn to adjust to their new hearing aids quickly. The sounds should be clear, comfortable, and pleasant. We will work with you to make sure you are getting the most out of your new hearing solution.

Follow-up appointments are necessary so we can continue to program the hearing aids optimally and address any questions you may have.

Hearing Aid Fittings

Hearing aids are not one size fits all solutions, so we emphasize a comprehensive fitting and follow-up schedule to ensure you are getting the most out of your devices. Part of your success relies on knowing what to expect with your hearing aids at home and in more challenging situations, so your appointment will not only include programming the hearing aids based on your hearing loss and sound preferences but will also cover the following:

  • How to use your hearing aids
  • How to put your hearing aids in correctly
  • How to remove your hearing aids
  • How to change your hearing aid batteries
  • How to clean and maintain your hearing aids

Hearing Aid Trial Period & Aftercare

Patient satisfaction is of high importance at our offices, so we encourage patients to participate in the 45-day trial period which is mandated by law in the State of California. We understand that adjusting to your hearing aids can be a bit of a learning curve, so we follow an acclimatization approach which allows you to hear and understand better in baby steps.

For the majority of patients, hearing aids always provide better hearing at home and in noisy environments, but it is up to each patient to determine if you like what you hear in your unique environments. Patients are recommended to return for 4 to 6 follow-up visits so that we can program your devices to meet your needs successfully.
